Abstract
Background & Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the content and reliability of the REVT.

Methods: The REVT was developed to assess receptive and expressive vocabulary abilities from infants to adults. Items were developed based on Korean vocabulary and language development literature, as well as from two pilot studies. Approximately 6,800 total subjects participated in the pilot studies and the norm study. The REVT items were arranged based on difficulty level. The items were selected based on the level of correct response and discrimination. There were no differences in these items between genders. For reliability analyses, test-retest reliability and split-half reliability were examined.

Results: The results of this study were as follows: (1) The REVT provided normative data to assess the receptive and expressive vocabulary abilities from infants to adults. (2) There was a significant relationship between the first test and the retest scores in both the receptive and the expressive vocabulary tests. (3) The correlation between the two tests separated by the split-half method also showed significant reliability.

Discussion & Conclusion: The results showed that REVT was a reliable instrument to assess vocabulary abilities from infants to adults. For this reason, it could be useful in both clinical and educational fields.
